The Path to Reviving Barneys New York

Barneys New York faded after its 2019 liquidation, but now One Lux Solution will be opening a Barneys store in Naples, FL, later this year. Authentic Brands Group, who owns the retailer's intellectual property, has given One Lux the exclusive rights to roll out Barneys in Florida. Authentic Brands has also been in discussions with the landlord of the former Barneys flagship building on Madison Avenue over possibly reviving Barneys with a new lease. {WWD/paywalled}

A Victoria's Secret Shareholder Is Trying To Oust the Chair

Australian billionaire Brett Blundy wants to oust Donna James, the long-term chair of Victoria's Secret & Co. Blundy's investment firm, BBRC International, owns about 13% of Victoria's Secret, making it the second-biggest single shareholder. BBRC is seeking the removal of James from the board after a years-long battle over the company's strategy and its decision not to appoint him as a director. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}

Fashion Editor Etta Froio Dies at 94

Etta Froio, who spent 54 years as a fashion editor at WWD and W Magazine, died at 94 on Thursday following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Froio became executive editor of both WWD and W Magazine, and later retired in 2012. "She observed our world with insight, curiosity and a perspective that was entirely her own." {WWD/paywalled}

How Amiri Is Building a Brand Around Sport Culture

Amiri is the Barcelona Football Club's official formalwear partner for the next five years, and the announcement post (which received 250 million impressions) has helped introduce the brand to a new level of fame. Mike Amiri built his brand on designing luxurydenim for athletes, with the brand's early skinny jeans featuring long inseams that fit people with atypical bodies. Amiri's Barcelona contract is for both the men's and women's teams, and the partnership has recast the label as a place for tailoring, not just denim. {The New York Times/paywalled}
