The Dumbbell Snatch with Patrick Frost | Good Form | Nike
To pull this one off, you’ll need balance, control, and coordination — with major input from your shoulders, core, glutes, quads, and hamstrings. The dumbbell is a little easier to manage than a kettlebell, and holding the weight in one hand lets you build strength evenly in both sides of your body. Learn more from Nike Master Trainer Patrick Frost. 1. Stand with one dumbbell on the floor between your feet. 2. Shift your hips back and down to grab the center of the dumbbell with an overhand grip, keeping your shoulders higher than your hips and over the weight, your black flat, and your shins vertical, to start. 3. Push through the floor to pull the weight straight up your midline, with your shoulders and hips rising at the same rate and keeping your arm extended until it reaches hip height. 4. Continue to pull the weight up with your elbow pointing to the side as you rapidly extend through your hips, keeping your feet flat until your legs extend. 5. Rise onto the balls of your feet and quickly rotate your palm forward to drop under the weight, landing in a quarter squat with your arm locked out overhead. 6. Stand, then reverse the motion to return to starting position. That’s 1 rep. 7. Switch sides and repeat.
